Abstract

Sustainable food systems are a crucial component in addressing environmental concerns, particularly in the context of reducing carbon footprints and promoting healthy lifestyles. This paper focuses on the role of schools in promoting sustainable food systems by educating students about the importance of local, seasonal, and plant-based diets. By integrating food education into school curricula, students can develop a deeper understanding of the environmental, economic, and health impacts of food choices. The study examines various educational strategies and programs that schools can implement to foster sustainable eating habits and encourages collaboration with local farmers, food suppliers, and communities to reinforce these concepts.
