Focus and Scope
This journal is designed to be a home for high-quality, peer-reviewed research that promotes the implementation of sustainable urban development. The journal reflects the complexity of sustainability challenges and seeks to provide a forum for innovative research on models, tools and strategies for smart growth: urban, regional planning; social aspects (sociological maturity); new technologies; protecting renewable resources including remediation/renewal initiatives. It deals with the design and implementation of green infrastructure, sustainable construction practices and eco-technologies tackling environmental policies, laws frameworks for enhancing sustainability in urban development. Research on urban resilience, climate adaptation strategies and mitigation measures to reduce the impacts ofconventionally incited global warming are also highly encouraged. The journal covers the following aspects related to cities where social sustainability intersects urban SD: e.g. equity and inclusion, community engagement and on economic models supporting sustainable urban development areas within its scope of interest. The journal welcomes submissions of papers that require material from related disciplines and encourages original studies based upon current problems. Its mission is to publish peer-reviewed articles and expedite the review process for authors of substantial findings. We would welcome original research articles, comprehensive reviews, case studies and policy analyses that considered the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in relation to urban contexts. We are particularly interested in contributions that present empirical evidence and theoretical insights about sustainable practices, regardless of the level of development of societies/urban settings concerned as well as any mixes between environmental-social economic dimensions; investigate suceesfully implemented solutions or practical application on innovative urban designs; adapt a critical approach towards existing policies with new paradigm alternatives for sustainability governance. The Journal of Green Cities and Sustainability see its role as providing an academic and practical platform for different types of knowledge on how to make urban environments sustainable, resilient & inclusive through global research collaboration among researchers, practitioners policymakers, stakeholders.
